article Posted October 02, 2018 11:14:09 The Redskins are in the process of revamping the nickname they’re using for quarterback Kirk Cousins.
According to a report in the Washington Post, the team is “working on” a new moniker, and will likely announce the change during a news conference this week.
In an interview with the Post, general manager Scot McCloughan said the name change is something the team has been discussing for a long time.
“The thing that is kind of hard for us is that I think it’s a part of the DNA of the team,” McCloughans told the paper.
“I think we all have a long history with this team, and we know it’s not something that we’ve embraced or embraced lightly.
I think there are a lot of good things about the Redskins, and I think we’re all really looking forward to it.”
The team was also expected to announce a new logo for the team in a press conference.
The Redskins’ name change hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the team announced in January it was changing it to “Redskins.”
This is the third time the team’s name has been changed.
The team adopted the name from the 1960s, when it was known as the Washington Warriors.
