Facebook is changing its logo in a bid to make it more palatable to the US military.
The social network is changing the colour of the bulls flag to the military’s blue.
The change will be rolled out to all users, including those who have opted out of Facebook advertising.
The move was first reported by Reuters news agency.
The US military is the only country where its logo is white.
Facebook users have expressed their frustrations on social media, with many saying it’s an insult to their country.
“My favorite thing about my country is the US flag.
I would love to have it in my country,” said user @lisa_daniel.
The logo change comes as Facebook faces a growing number of backlash from users.
Last week, a US court ordered the social network to pay $100 million to the parents of a child who was killed by a military drone.
Facebook said in a statement on Thursday that the change was not about politics, but instead about “how our service members feel about our service”.
“We are working with the military to make sure that our logo and our messages are appropriate to their mission and how they view us, the service members, and their families,” the company said.
“The changes we’re making are focused on the right message for our users and our mission and not about any particular political or social agenda.”
