The Cleveland Indians announced Wednesday that it has agreed to buy the vacant Cleveland Browns Stadium from Ohio’s largest public university for $100 million, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.
The stadium will be located in the downtown area near the Ohio Convention Center and will be used for home games.
The team will open a new home in 2019.
The $100 billion purchase, the biggest for any sports team in U.S. history, is expected to help bring a new stadium to Cleveland.
The deal includes a 25 percent share of the Cleveland Browns’ future profits, according to the newspaper.
It also includes a $30 million gift to the Cleveland Indians Foundation for community programs and education.
